Is Captain No Eyes a Pumpkin?
It is not every day that you hear someone becoming a pumpkin. I know what you may be thinking. Did Captain No Eyes stay up too late one night? That is the only explanation that describes such a statement. There is another reason why Captain No Eyes would be this much celebrated fruit in the Fall.
A young fan took it upon herself to create the likeness of Captain No Eyes in pumpkin form for a school project! She put a lot of work into it and even made sure he was buckled in his seatbelt before accompanying her to school!
You’ve got to hand it to this pumpkin replica; he’s got clean teeth and a winning smile.

Oh! A Pumpkin Replica
It’s also pretty cool to create a personality that kids are motivated by. Captain No Eyes has become personal to this young fan. The good Captain starts as just a guy who is mission-minded. I think it’s important for kids to see that people don’t arrive in the middle of the story with it all together.
They need to see the messy, awkward beginning while an eventual hero figures out the hard. Once everything is figured out, they get to observe how far the hero has come, and they are encouraged to do the same, but maybe just maybe they expect things to be hard at first in their own lives.
A Short History of Captain No Eyes and More on his Purpose
Captain No Eyes has only one published adventure, but a very full database of stories yet to be published. These adventures are hard, dangerous, and seemingly impossible to the readers and characters at times. However, they push through with character, perseverance, and love for others.
The original audience was my kids, who were going through their own seemingly impossible stuff. Captain No Eyes was a haven and shelter away from the relentless events of the day. They are now grown and experiencing real life.
I hope the memory of the stories points them to perseverance, endurance, hope, peace, love, and the perfect real hero of Jesus, of which Captain No Eyes is an imperfect Christ figure.
