Quick Thoughts

Our Kids are People Too

Babies, kids and teenagers are people too. We, I, can easily forget that. Its easy to forget when we are distracted or upset by something. We all know babies can let stuff go, just like us because unlike us they have no control. Kids have very little control and teenagers think they should have all the control. But we are all people just the same.

Babies

Babies have always struck me. They get upset, happy, sad, mad, and all the above just like adults. I’ve seen three babies come into this world, and we all behave the same way whether we are babies, toddlers, kids, teenagers, or adults. If you are a parent, have you ever noticed some of the faces your baby makes? Those same faces are still around, no matter how old they get. Why is that? Here comes Captain Obvious… babies are people, too! They have a degree of hard that isn’t so hard when they grow up, but it is still hard, whatever the stage.

Kids

My son is nine, and he has been self-sufficient in many different ways for a while now. One thing that has occurred to me is that he can have a bad or good day and can articulate both extremes as to why it was good or bad. He is just like an adult in that regard. Again, there is a person in there, and he is alive and well. I do well to remember this.

Teens

Why? Because babies, kids, and teenagers are people too. We can help and lift each other up and out. I need to work harder at taking my eyes off myself and putting them on someone else. No one can do this perfectly, no matter how much they love their family. I know I can’t. However, there is one man in the whole history of the world who did it perfectly. This man was a baby, a little boy, a teen, and an adult just like us. His whole reason for being here was to save us from our own sin, look outward, abolish the system, to heal, comfort, protect, speak the truth, and die for all of us.

Jesus is Our Hope

His name is Jesus, and he is not dead. We all need to seek the True Savior. How do we do that? By giving our lives to him, fulfilling his will, and obeying his word. All the answers we need can be found in Him, not the news or Instagram, which I am sure you know by now. So, let’s hug our kids and take them by the hand and guide them through the great unknown. After all, we know more than they do, and we can tell them it’s going to be ok along the way.
